Through our guidance and instruction our students will respect languages and cultures as well as gain a sense of social and environmental responsibility.

Morning Valet Program

Our morning Valet Program is intended to ensure the safety of our children.  Please remember to adhere to all safety rules.  If you are interested in volunteering for this program, please contact the main office for additional details.

ESL parent classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-10:30 am.


Parent Center workshop on Friday, October 13, 2017, from 8:30-10:00 am in Room 19.  This workshop is called "Family Literature" and is intended for Kindergarten/First grade parents.

Welcome to San Fernando Elementary School!



September Perfect Attendance 

It is important to come to school every day on time! Those who had perfect attendance for the month of September will be invited to our very first "AttenDANCE Counts" dance.  Students will enjoy great music brought to us by our very own D.J. Saldaña on October 9th during recess!


*Remember- 3 tardies counts as 1 absence

Halloween Parade

On Tuesday, October 31, San Fernando Elementary will be holding its annual Halloween Parade. We will begin at 8:45 am.  All are welcome to attend this event.


Please remember to follow LAUSD guidelines for all costumes.

  • Costumes shall not be demeaning to any person or group.
  • Costumes may not be revealing (e.g., low cut, French maids, nightwear, and bathing suits)
  • No weapons or replica weapons are to be brought to school.
  • No masks may be worn that completely hide the identity of the student; however, masks may be worn during the parade .
  • No costume can be worn that is unsafe or that may create a safety hazard.

San Fernando Elementary offers Dual Language classes for children in grades K-5th.  Students learn to read and write in Spanish while continuing to enhance their English skills.

We want to thank "Inspiring Notes" for their time and service spent at our school.  Our students were fortunate to have great musicians who performed and taught about the instruments in an orchestra.

Thank you  Ms. Rosa Furumoto, Ms. Charlotte Spielmann, 3rd Grade Teachers, Beautification Committee and Parents that collaborated to make this possible.  

Mind Up to continue for 2017-18

San Fernando Elementary is proud to announce the implementation of the MIND UP Curriculum for will continue for 2016-17 school year along with other RESTORATIVE JUSTICE practices.   Thanks to the Goldie Hawn Foundation and Congressman Cardenas our school has obtained this wonderful curriculum for our students which will strengthen their minds by teaching students how our brains work and how we can purposefully and positively impact our behavior and learning on a daily basis.
